SYNOPSIS
Born into poverty and with no formal education, Jose ‘Cholowin’ Luis found his true classroom in the ocean at a young age. Out of necessity he taught himself to craft surfboards, starting in his adolescence. His passion and resourcefulness eventually led him to apprentice under world-renowned RUSTY Surfboards shaper, Rick Hamon, where he refined his craft and honed his skills.
Today, Cholowin’s journey has come full circle. He now makes a living by creating world-class surfboards from reclaimed materials, blending sustainability with craftsmanship. But his story goes beyond surfboards—it's about one man’s mission to uplift his community and inspire others to rise above their circumstances.
This documentary tells the powerful story of Cholowin's resilience, his commitment to sustainability, and his dedication to uniting people through the timeless connection of the ocean.
